HOTEL MONTECARLO
SURROUNDINGS OF THE HOTEL MONTECARLO
The Hotel Montecarlo is located in the San Pablo neighborhood, between Plaza de Armas and
the Museum of Fine Arts. A coffee shop, Cafe de Indias, on Avda.
Reyes Catolicos, is a 1 minute walk from the Hotel on calle Gravina.
A procession during Semana Santa makes its way down Avda Reyes Catolicos.
This is a good place to catch some of Semana Santa, as the wide street
offers plenty of space to see one of the pasos, or floats.
Further up the street, now calle San Pablo, we see the side of La Magdalena
church. The church, which was recently restored, is just a three minute walk from the Hotel.
Now we move along calle San Pablo where we find Pasteleria San Pablo,
a favorite place to stop and "window shop" for pastries. The
window display leads many inside for a quick purchase.
From the pastry shop we see the Plaza Magdalena. To the left is El Corte
Inglés, to the right calle Tetuan and the center of the shopping district.
With a five minute walk down calle Zaragoza we find one of the best
dining options in Sevilla. The School of Hostelry runs the Taberna
del Alabardero, well known for it's unique and delicious recipes.
For about 11 Euros you can enjoy a three course meal in the downstairs
dining room.
Following calle Gravina in the opposite direction we take calle Pedro
del Toro and arrive at the Plaza del Museo, the site of the local artist
market on Sundays. The Museum of Fine Arts is here in the Plaza and
just a 7 minute walk from the Hotel.
Now we follow Avda Reyes Catolicos towards the river for two minutes.
Restaurante El Cairo serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant
is a very popular destination for tapas on the weekend.
Just a few minutes from El Cairo we arrive at the Triana Bridge and the riverwalk.
Continuing along the river we arrive at the Plaza de Toros. Inside we
find a museum which includes a cape painted by Picasso.
