Hotel La Casa del Maestro is located in an 19th century Sevillian house in the historic center of the city. Located between the Santa Catalina and Alfalfa district, the hotel borders the Barrio Santa Cruz. The house was formerly the residence of Manuel Serrapi, or "Niño Ricardo", a famous flamenco guitar player and composer. The house has been renovated, offering 11 guest rooms spanning three floors. The hotel renovations preserved all of the original, charming Andalusian qualities, including a central patio, roof terrace, original wood beam ceilings and losa floors. As expected with an inn of this size, we´ve found the service to be excellent, with an attention to detail as well as a warm, personal treatment.

Throughout the house guests will find photos and memorabilia documenting the life of Serrapi, who spent over a half-century in the home. Additional pieces include two outfits from the famous matador Manuel Benitez, known simply by aficionados as "El Cordobés".

Each room in the Hotel La Casa del Maestro is unique, and each has been assigned the name of a different composition by "el Niño Ricardo". What stands is the care taken in the decoration and comforts of the rooms. High quality bed linens, bath robes and toiletries keep guests very comfortable. The decorative touches and furniture often include pieces from North Africa. All details compliment the original architecture of the rooms, such as high ceilings with wooden beams. The result is a a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Two ground floor rooms have private patios. A smaller upstairs room includes a private terrace which overlooks the small pedestrian street below.

The hotel offers the typical setting of a Sevillian house. Guests enter through the traditional Andalusian patio to the central reception and sitting area. To the right we pass through a small living room with honor bar to find the new cafe, where breakfast is served daily. A small enclave above the cafe is an internet corner, with free internet access on the hotel computer. The stairs lead to most of the guest rooms on the top two floors. Stairways and common areas are decorated with photos from the life of "el Niño Ricardo". The central patio spans the entire height of the building to the glass roof. Why we selected this hotel... Top |

The Hotel La Casa del Maestro offers just about everything for those looking for an intimate escape off the beaten path: a small and very charming inn with a rich history of flamenco, tucked away in one of the most typical neighborhoods in Seville. As residents of the neighborhood we have always enjoyed being just outside of the main tourist district yet still within an easy walk of the center and all of the charms which Seville has to offer. We also like the high ceilings in the rooms and the typical Andalusian style one expects in an historic building: wood furniture, elegant art work, original ceramic tiles, a central Andalusian patio and roof terrace. For dining and tapas we highly recommend El Rinconcillo, Seville's oldest tavern, as well as the newer Restaurante Jano, featuring a chef from Seville's famous school of hostelry. Both are within just a few minutes walk of the hotel.
